CHANNING TALBOT

The White Project
The white Project
The White Project served as the conceptual starting point for my senior collection. The assignment challenged designers to create a single look using only white fabric, removing color as a design element and shifting the focus entirely to silhouette, texture, fabric choice, and craftsmanship. Without color to rely on, each design decision from material selection to construction details, became more deliberate, allowing the garment’s form and surface to carry the narrative.
For my look, I intentionally chose lace as the primary fabric to explore ideas of exposure and modesty. The transparency of the lace allowed the body to remain partially visible, creating a dialogue between coverage and revelation that would later become central to my senior collection. This fabric choice emphasized the natural form of the body while also highlighting intricate pattern and texture.
While developing the piece, I began experimenting with shapes inspired by Gothic cathedral architecture, translating elements such as ribbed vaults into the garment’s design. Through the combination of architectural influence and the intentional use of lace, this project ultimately sparked the concept for my senior collection, which examines the female body through the symbolic and structural lens of the Gothic cathedral.
